TFCU Awards OBU Student $3,000 Scholarship

As a responsible student from Bartlesville, OK, Hallie Tennison has been piecing together scholarships to pay for her college tuition and expenses. When she received the news from Tinker Federal Credit Union that she had won a $3,000 scholarship, she was beyond excited. Hallie immediately shared the good news with her roommate, who had told her about the scholarship opportunity.

“I am so thankful for the scholarship. It is such a blessing for me,” said Hallie. “It will help further my education at OBU and keep me going to school.”

As a sophomore, Hallie started at Oklahoma Baptist University as a nursing major but then realized that path wasn’t for her. “The more I prayed about it, the more I decided to switch to teaching,” said Hallie. “I’ve been observing Miss Clark and her second grade class at Will Rogers Elementary school (in Shawnee), and I love it!”

Hallie’s mother, Darah Crouch, beams with pride when she describes her “very responsible” daughter. She’s not the only one. “At TFCU, we love to help people every day in life and money,” said Nancy Ward, TFCU vp/marketing director. “We’re proud to help support young Oklahomans who are finding their career path, just like Hallie.”

More than three thousand Oklahoma students entered to win TFCU’s Back to College scholarship contest in 2020. A total of three winners were randomly drawn with each receiving $3,000. As a not-for-profit credit union, this scholarship program is just one way TFCU gives back to the communities it serves.
