Reviewing Your Beneficiary Designations

A beneficiary designation review is an important part of your financial plan.

You have probably heard situations in which the “wrong” person inherited money intended for someone else. More often than not, this happens because the owner of the accounts failed to update his or her list of beneficiaries to reflect major life changes (marriage, divorce, birth, death, etc.).

It is important from time to time––especially after life changing events––to conduct a beneficiary review of your IRAs, retirement plans, insurance policies, annuities, trusts and bank accounts. You will not only ensure your wishes are accounted for, but also help your loved ones with the transition of your estate.

If you do not have a financial plan or would like help with your financial plan, call the professionals at TFCU Financial Advisors. They can help you tailor a financial plan that is unique to your situation and help you with your beneficiary review.
