Avid Bargain Hunting — Money Saver or Cash Drain?

Is that bargain price you just paid for detergent really saving you what you think it is? If you were doing your weekly shopping at the store offering the discount, you probably did pocket the extra 50¢ or so you saved. But, if you drove an additional 10 miles to take advantage of the sale, your profit may have been eaten up in gasoline costs.

According to one savvy consumer whose business is shopping for other busy people, every bargain hunt is a judgment call. The best strategy for saving on groceries and other sundries, she says, is to find the store you feel is overall best on their prices and just do your shopping there. It can save you money on gas and your time.
